House in Nasu
This is a weekend house located in Nasu, in Tochigi Prefecture.
In this neighborhood we can find many kinds of weekend house style.
For this reason I wanted to make this house as much silent as possible.
Surrounded by a small forest, this house appears from the outside as the basic form of a house.
Trees hide its shape and blur its outline, enclosing it in a silent and private atmosphere.
Only one living space was set in this house.
Here a small exposed concrete wall act as a “Monolith”, giving order to the space.
Walls and ceiling were painted in white, creating a perfectly pure atmosphere useful to the client to escape from his everyday life in Tokyo.
Due to low temperatures of winter season only few openings with generous dimension has been set.
From the inside living space the trimmed view of the forest let us only guess the surrounding nature.
During warm seasons, instead, when all windows are opened, we can feel this house as one unique space where inside and outside are perfectly melted together.
