Santralistanbul
Renovation and conversion of Silahtaraga Power Plant, the first urban-scale power plant of the Ottoman Empire. Founded in the Golden Horn district which is the oldest industrial zone in Istambul, it provide electricity to the city from 1911 to 1983. The earliest power plant of Turkey on an urban scale was preserved and reintroduced to Istambul as a complex of public functions: the Museum of Energy created by the preservation and conversion of the old engine rooms, the Main Gallery and "Gallery 1" for contemporary artistic and cultural activities, open air recreation areas and educational units.
