TEAK TAK Villa
This home was designed for a young family, the spaces neatly packed into the clear contours of the building. From the street only the floating wooden box is visible. The issues of openness and privacy are addressed through the contrast between the transparent and public ground floor and the highly private wooden first floor. In spite of its central location and box like appearance, the house takes advantage of the entire size of the plot. The total transparency of the ground floor ensures that both the orchard and the back garden will be enjoyed from almost every position. Perhaps more than any other home we have designed, this house is both an object and a defined space. The preciousness of the detailing, as well as, the contrast between transparent and solid constantly causes one to reassess the house's dimensions and mass.
