New school building Bünzmatt III
The three floor high construction and the amplification of the double to a triple sports hall complements the school installation Bünzmatt from Dolf Schnebli. The compact block is added in a very natural manner easterly to the existing buildings. The school “town“ installation with its squares, paths, bridges, and ramps flows through the inside of the existing building as well as through the new construction.
The building with its overhanging rooms without pilars, with its big cast concrete panels for the walls and roofs in the inside and outside appears as poured of one piece. Once rooms emerge not from adding walls and ceilings but through omitting material.
The different functions of the rooms underlined by materialisation(outside and inside rooms) and illumination (subdued areas contrast the almost bright perspectives) generate a dense atmosphere which as a child we dreamed of.
The entrance ceiling area is unusually low, but once you have entered an exciting and expansive world of forms, towers, stairs, cubes and light open up. Here start different ways of experience through the inside of the building. The classrooms are accessed through a gallery-like hall system.
Group rooms, bathrooms and emergency exit stairs are disposed in the two towers.
The schoolbuilding Bünzmatt III was built with the standard of minergie. With the messured consumption of heating energy it also complys with the rigorous “standard of a passiv house“ (Minergie-P).
