SPORTS PAVILION
The pavilion’s multi-purpose condition has determined the hall’s position. Around it both public and user’s spaces are grouped with an organization in two levels quite independent. The track is placed in the lower level, surrounded by four specialized stripes which house the different rooms. The public access are located in the upper level and surrounding the sunken stands the lobby, toilet units, press and authorities rooms, are placed. Several catwalks for light or maintenance are placed in the higher levels.
The roof provides the building a unitarian aspect which translates the great indoor space, making up as a gentle vault with an arch carpanel section covered by metallic panels; on top of it four rows of trunk-conical skylights facing north emerge.
The relationship between the roof and the skylights provides the Pavilion a changeable aspect both from distant sights as in the foreshortening sight. Under the roof the building shows an encircling made by means of smooth glassed planes fitted into the metallic structure.
The façades consist of horizontal stripes made up by double u-glass panels, transparent glasses and ceramic panels with a sequence defined in the west façade by the volumes and the first floor’s open courtyards. The south façade reproduces the pavilion’s cross section and its crown, which fit the vault profile, is characterized by the hollows emphasizing the roof’s layout.
