BBH extension
BBH decided to expand into the adjacent grade II listed building at the rear of its existing offices in Soho in 2007. Urban Salon were commissioned to fit out the extension. Ensuring that it integrated within the main building, connecting the two buildings.
The new building was five-storeys high, with none of the existing floor levels lining up with the original main building. Urban Salon’s solution was to use bridges to span across the light-well, linking the two buildings, whilst accommodating the level change when moving from building to building.
The additional 700m2 office space was designed to houses a range of functional spaces, including an attic-level recording studio, three video-editing suites, meeting rooms, catering facilities and an open-plan office space, which is used as a research facility and library.
The extension used a different palette of materials from the main building and has its own mix of colours - largely greens, browns and blues. To help with orientation, each floor has its own colour identify. Spaces are broken-up with frameless glazed partitions featuring words chose by staff.
The budget for the project was £800,000. The construction was completed in May 2007.
