Headquarters Building of Parkurbis, S.A.
Built in the Technological Park of Covilhã, the Parkurbis building has as main objective, to be this region’s development and stimulation instrument. The built set is organized into two floors in an “L” shaped footprint that at ground level is subdivided into two parts.
A division of spaces is defined in functional terms: the administrative and companies’ support services are located in the building’s larger body, and the support services (auditorium, bar, restaurant, kitchen) located in the smaller body, separated by the existing alley and connected solely at the upper floor level through a bridge that assures the internal circulation, allowing each one of them the possibility of functioning autonomously.
The fundamental concept of Parkurbis’ architecture is based on the premise of assuming the two distinct bodies with their own functions, linked by a bridge and interrelated in a harmonious set. Composed of sober volumes, sophisticated in their interrelationship, privileging the horizontalness as to minimize their impact, using large glass surfaces in a balanced composition of volumes and openings.
