Hans van der Heijden [the Hague, 1963] studied Architecture and Urban Design at TU Delft. He is the co-founder of the Rotterdam architecture studio biq and he acted as the firm’s design director from 1994-2014. In 2014 HvdH moved to Amsterdam to establish his own design studio Hans van der Heijden Architect [www.hvdha.com] and to continue his practice as an independent designer. He is an editor of the Dutch Architecture Yearbook. HvdH lectures and teaches. HvdH has published articles in different professional magazines and the books Architecture in the Fractured City and Habitat. In 1996 he won the Europan-4 competition for young architects. From 2013-2014 he was the Sir Arthur Marshall Visiting Professor in Sustainable Urban Design at Cambridge University and Visiting Fellow at Jesus College in Cambridge.
