PRAÇA DOS CRISTAIS

ROBERTO BURLE MARX

From the Publisher

Praça dos Cristais is a geometric garden built in the shape of a triangle. The square's name recalls a trip made by Burle Max and his assistant, Haruyoshi Ono, to Crystalline where they found several crystals of rock later brought to Brasilia and still drawn in the main water mirror of the square.

Issue #186 is part of Box Set #26, dedicated to the photographic journey by Brazilian photographer Leonardo Finotti into five landscapes designed by Roberto Burle Marx around Brazil from the 1940s to 1990s, interpreting a range of scales of Burle Marx's work from private gardens to urban squares and large-scale public projects.
