PAMPULHA
ROBERTO BURLE MARX
Pampulha Lagoon is one of the most important landscape designs designed by Burle Marx in Belo Horizonte in the 1940s. Aimed for cushioning the floods afflicting the capital, it collects several public buildings by Oscar Niemeyer and other Brazilian modernist architects.
Issue #185 is part of Box Set #26, dedicated to the photographic journey by Brazilian photographer Leonardo Finotti into five landscapes designed by Roberto Burle Marx around Brazil from the 1940s to 1990s, interpreting a range of scales of Burle Marx's work from private gardens to urban squares and large-scale public projects.
