ARTURO FRANCO DÍAZ
In this issue, Carlos Fernandez Piñar presents the intervention by Spanish architect Arturo Franco within the former slaughterhouse in Madrid. The complex of over twenty buildings was built by architect Luis Bellido in the early twentieth century and recently transformed into a new cultural area. Arturo Franco operates both in a respectful and experimental way, bringing together existing structure and new intervention. Carlos Fernandez Piñar narrates the cuts on the walls, the cork insulation left exposed, the warp of the walls without plaster, the consolidation of pillars and the signs of an architecture that is not afraid to reveal its past.
